LIMITED $15 early-bird tickets. There will be $20 tickets available at the door. Influential Swedish psych band DUNGEN have been making ethereal, triumphant, heady music since 1999, and have just released their critically acclaimed ninth album, Häxan. Jack White of the White Stripes is a fan (so much that he produced one of their albums) and Tame Impala has been heavily influenced by these Swedish prog rockers. On August 10th, the Miniplex is offering a rare chance to see these giants of the Psych Renaissance in an intimate setting. The show starts at 8:30 and is 21 and up.
Praise for DUNGEN:
"Like being struck by indescribable melodic lightning...Dense, fuzzed-out Keith Moon anthems, sunny slices of pop majesty, jazzy piano-driven interludes, and autumnal instrumentals." - Pitchfork
"Bandleader Gustav Ejstes has found a way to constantly shuffle, reinvent and reinvigorate the music of the past in a way that makes his works feel both modern and true to their influences." - NPR
"An alluring arctic-breeze spin on bucolic English prog-rock — particularly the early-Seventies heyday of Caravan." - Rolling Stone
Praise for their new album HÄXAN:
"Shows the apex of the band’s involvement in non-rock traditions, grabbing at pieces of jazz, folk, and droning classical to flesh out their swirling storms of psychedelia...Häxan takes Dungen’s psychedelic experimentation and storytelling into a further realm, one at once more fantastic and more rooted in the subconscious." - Consequence of Sound
"There’s an abundance of production details to get lost in, and the band sounds as vital as ever—dynamic, tight and assured." - Pitchfork
