Sage Elaine Fisher is an American composer, performer and sound artist. She is best known for her performance project, Dolphin Midwives, which abstracts harp, voice and percussion using electronics, extended techniques and ritual processes. She explores themes of empathy, sustainability, vulnerability and transformation through social experiment, meditation, psychoacoustics and magic.
Liminal Garden, Dolphin Midwives’ debut studio album, was released internationally on Jan 18, 2019 by Beacon Sound/Sounds et al to critical acclaim, earning the artist mentions in The New York Times, SPIN, and The Guardian, among other publications. In June 2019 she joined the ranks of Portland's “Best New Bands” according to the Willamette Week. She is currently writing and preparing to record her sophomore studio album, Body of Water, this spring.
Crystal Cortez is a musician, creative coder and Sonic Arts professor based in Portland, Oregon. Under her performance moniker Crystal Quartez she weaves field recordings, synth, audio programing, sonification of crystals, and multi-channel sound spatialization to produce complex sonic realms. Her practice has recently involved the development of interactive sculptural interfaces and wearable technology that use movement and other corporeal methods to free the electronic music performer from their technology. Crystal blends sound, tech and performance art to produce ceremonial atmospheres for reflection and release. Her work has been shown at PNCA, Disjecta, PICA, Navel (LA) and more.
