ABOUT ABOUT

Never again will you have a chance to catch Italy's unique occult-psychedelia duo Father Murphy, as this is their final tour promoting their final album, after 17 years as a band with a haunting sound all their own. Touring for the last seven years—performing with the likes of Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu, Dirty Beaches, Iceage, Jarboe, and Carla Bozulich, plus many more along the way—has kept the project fresh throughout the years.

"It is usually a cliche to describe a record as 'unlike any other you'll hear this year,' but such a statement is not only applicable to [Father Murphy's] Rising, it is an appropriate frame of mind to get in before stepping into its candlelit world of ceremonial noise, natural texture and stark mysticism... an album that you close your eyes and immediately see in three dimensions, and it is nearly impossible to think about anything else while absorbed in it." - PopMatters

"While these songs could easily fit into a religious songbook they're imbued with a modern, sinister feel thanks to the addition of drone, power electronics and more. Consumed in full, the album is one to both impress and send shivers down your spine, making for one of the more unique releases of the year." - Revolver

"One of the most mysterious and enigmatic musical outfits coming from Italy... Solemn, intense, deep and moving. It’s the light we were waiting for and we moved towards." - Echoes & Dust

"An outsider operatic hellscape that calls to mind the starkest visions of Cormac McCarthy." - The Guardian

"Like punks who secretly learned classical." - San Francisco Weekly

With local support from CV (supergroup featuring former members of White Manna, The Hard Ride, & more).
